Description
Introduction
Guava (Psidium guajava) fruits may be round, oval, elongated or pear-shaped. The commercial varieties
grown in Malaysia usually have light-green skin when ripe, though there are varieties with yellow
skins. The flesh may be white, light-yellow, pink or salmon; with textures ranging from crunchy to
pulpy. Guavas are generally sweet with an aromatic odour when ripe. The fruit has many seeds in the
centre though seedless varieties are also available. Apart from being eaten fresh, guava juice is also an
important product.
